Booking Through Thursday (09.03.09)

This weeks question is “What’s the biggest book you’ve read recently?
(Feel free to think “big” as size, or as popularity, or in any other way you care to interpret.)” I again took a trip along my bookcases pondering an answer to the question. I have not read any truly hefty-sized books as of late but then my eyes ran across a title that is just slightly popular and well-known. Drum roll please - The Time Traveler’s Wife (my review) by Audrey Niffenegger. head on over to Booking Through Thursday to let everyone know your own big reds and to discover others you may have missed!

I’ll go with pages which would be 657. I read The Soprano Sorceress and now I’m in a battle against the library trying to get the second book in paperback since I don’t like reading longer books in hardback also it’s easier to read walk with a paperback. Right now I’m reading The House which isn’t really long at least not by my standards I guess. It’s 370 pages.
As far as number of pages, one I can think of for me is The Stand by Stephen King. Not recent but loooong. Libraries are great but can be frustrating!
And the thing is, with the launch of the movie, The Time Traveler’s Wife is set to get popular all over again. I bet you’re glad you read it before the film trailers bring along all the spoilers.
Warmest

That was part of why the book didn’t blow me away – I pretty much figured out the spoilers. It was good just not great!
We just read this book for our book club and can only say I was so happy when the end finally came! I really, really wanted to enjoy it; the premise sounds so great, but I neither cared for the characters nor did I feel the plot really moved. My book club wants to go see the movie and I am deperately seeking the flu in order to skip out. My big book reads are here: http://www.tenthmusebooks.com/blog
It wasn’t my favorite either. I enjoyed it but not as much as I wanted to.
Another TTW…I haven’t read it coz I can’t find it. I ant to read the untranslated one but all book stores sell the translated one
I know, popular for the big choice!
Oh, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss for me its like 722 pages!
I am not a SF fan but am finding myself being drawn to certain titles. I checked this one out and it sounds like it would be a good one and long!!
I’ve got to get on Time Traveler’s Wife. I think I’m the last of my friends to read it!
I recommend it. I just finished her second book “Her Fearful Symmetry” and will be posting a review this weekend. It was…well you will have to find out.
I really enjoyed the Time Traveller’s Wife, definitely big in popularity and big in imagination!
Imagination is right! I wonder how difficult it must have been to keep track of everything from the writers standpoint.
